Madrid es un lugar donde, a pesar de lo que hay a los mandos tratando de ahogar cualquier actividad que no sea de su infecto interés, suceden cosas sorprendentes si miras con atención. Si se quiere, incluso, es posible participar en ellas. No es tan complicado como puede parecer, muchas veces sólo es necesario hacer contacto por las RRSS y, sobre todo, tener un nivel sano de pudor (es decir: muy poco) y ganas de pasarlo bien sin perjudicar a nadie.
Madrid is a place where, despite the mob at the controls of the City trying to drown out any activity that is not of their infectious interest, surprising things happen if you look closely. If you want, it is even possible to participate in them. It is not as complicated as it may seem, many times it is only necessary to make contact through the social networks and, above all, to have a healthy level of modesty (that is, very little) and the desire to have fun without harming anyone.
Con estas palabras seguro que no ofrezco mucha idea de lo que hablo ¿verdad? A ver si lo arreglo un poco. Es un movimiento, una marcha. En el idioma su creador, promotor y coreógrafo Barry Brandon: un Walk.
With these words I’m sure I don’t offer much idea of what I’m talking about, right? Let’s see if I shed light on it a bit. It is a movement, a march. In the language of its creator, promoter and choreographer Barry Brandon: a Walk.
Y ¿qué demonios es eso? Pues una manera de expresión en la que Humanos Queer marchan juntos dando visibilidad a esta manera de sentir la vida. Según las propias palabras de Barry, se trata en el fondo de “crear espacios más seguros para que todos los humanos se expresen”.
So, what the hell is that? Well, It’s a way of expression in which Queer Humans march together giving visibility to this way of feeling life. In Barry‘s own words, it is basically “ to create safer spaces for all humans to express themselves”.
¿Cómo Funciona? Barry lanza una convocatoria vía RRSS donde se indica una pauta de vestimenta o dress code para juntarse en un lugar público y vistoso de la ciudad que toque para desfilar al compás de la música, siguiendo una coreografía simple que se explica en el momento. Se graba todo con smartphone, para después hacer una producción y subirlo a las redes.
How does it work? Barry launches a call via social networks where a dress code is indicated to meet in a public and colorful place in the city on duty, to parade at the rythm of the music, following a simple choreography that is explained at the time. Everything is recorded with a smartphone, to later make a production and upload it to the web.
Sencillo ¿verdad? Todo reside en la actitud y la vistosidad de atuendos, ademanes y poses, justo esas cosas que tanto molestan a los de la caverna, a esos que nos quieren en el armario como están ellos, con sus cuentas sin rostro en las putiapp’s. ¿No me creéis? Solo tenéis que acercaros a las sedes de ciertas agrupaciones políticas y abrir cualquiera de ellas para constatar lo que os digo: montones de perfiles descabezados. Hipócritas, meapilas y lamecirios de toda la vida.
Simple, right? It all resides in the attitude and the showiness of the outfits, gestures and poses, just those things that annoy those in the cave so much, those who want to keep us in the closet as they do, with their faceless accounts in the sex/date apps. Don’t you believe me? You just have to go to the headquarters of certain political groups and open any of them to verify what I am saying: lots of headless profiles. Hypocrites, squeakies and suckers known to all.
Hablo de Madrid por la desastrosa situación política y cultural que sufrimos, sin olvidar que las personas LGTBIQA+ estamos en el punto de mira, pero Barry también ha realizado eventos espectaculares en Barcelona, donde están bastante mejor en estos aspectos.
I am talking about Madrid due to the disastrous political and cultural situation that we suffer, without forgetting that LGTBIQA+ people are in the spotlight, but Barry has also held spectacular events in Barcelona, where they are much better in these aspects.
Estas marchas son un símbolo, una señal clara de que no podrán hacer que desaparezcamos. Con este objetivo Barry está visitando ciudades en EEUU, Europa y ahora México donde promueve estas actividades entre las comunidades Queer, obteniendo muchísima presencia en Instagram, Tiktok y Twitter.
These marches are a symbol, a clear sign that they will not be able to make us disappear. With this objective, Barry is visiting cities in the US, Europe and now Mexico where he promotes these activities among Queer communities, obtaining a lot of presence on Instagram, Tiktok and Twitter.
Le avalan más de 15 años de experiencia en la planificación y gestión de eventos por todo el mundo. Comenzó con la creación, producción y comisariado de programas en los que proporcionaba espacios más seguros para los humanos LGTBQIA+. Al hilo del crecimiento y el impacto de sus trabajos, entabló una relación con la agencia C3 que resultó en producciones de muy alto nivel para marcas como Google, Virgin Atlantic, Virgin America y Yes To. Más recientemente, trabajó como Gerente de Mercado para la campaña This Free Life en las ciudades de Chicago y más tarde Atlanta, una campaña destinada a abordar los problemas del consumo de tabaco en jóvenes LGTBQIA+ .
He has more than 15 years of experience in planning and managing events around the world. He began with the creation, production and curation of programs in which he provided safer spaces for LGTBQIA+ humans. Following the growth and impact of his work, he established a relationship with the C3 agency that resulted in high-end productions for brands such as Google, Virgin Atlantic, Virgin America and Yes To. Most recently, he worked as Market Manager for the This Free Life campaign in the cities of Chicago and later Atlanta, a campaign aimed at addressing the problems of tobacco use among LGTBQIA+ youth.
Habrá quien piense que todo esto es una petardada sin relevancia, que sólo son/somos unas mamarrachas ejerciendo de ello. A todos los que piensan así les sugiero que den una vuelta a sus prejuicios porque esto es una manera de hacer que las Comunidades Queer de todo el mundo tengan su espacio y sean visibles. Es más que necesario seguir y participar en iniciativas de esta clase para que, de una vez por todas, los que desean que nos esfumemos lo hagan en nuestro lugar.
There will be those who think that all this is a non-relevant dull thing, that they are / we are bullshitters exercising it. To all of you who think like this,I suggest you reevaluate your prejudices around, because this is a way to make Queer Communities have their space and be visible around the world. It is more than necessary to continue and participate in initiatives of this kind so that, once and for all, those who want us to disappear will do so in our place.
